With the release of xXx: Return of Xander Cage just around the corner, Deepika Padukone is all set to kickstart the promotions for her Hollywood debut. The action film stars her alongside Vin Diesel, Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev and others. The actress has left for US to take part in promotional events and interviews. We hope that she will soon make appearances on the popular talk shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chelsea, and, I have my fingers crossed, The Ellen Degeneres Show. Hollywood has not seen many Indian celebs on these chat shows, and they are sure in a for a treat when Deepika graces the shows with her presence. And we really really want Deepika to got through all the talk show appearances by Aishwarya Rai in the past.
Aishwarya has been on quite a few chat shows in the West, and she has nailed it. She conducted herself in the most graceful manner, and made sure that she brings along a hint of India with her. Here are a few key notes from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s interviews that Deepika should definitely remember:
Don’t let anyone shade you for where you come from
It was supposed to be a nice chat for Aishwarya with David Letterman. We know how David is! A little crass with his humour, and we are totally okay with it. But to instigate a laughter from the audience based on a joke about a country’s culture? Not cool! Aishwarya was subjected to the usual David Letterman insults, which she took like a sport, followed by a remark on India’s culture of kids living with their parents. And that is when Aishwarya made sure she drew the line for David!
Bring something unique to the table
Aishwarya Rai and her husband Abhishek Bachchan didn’t give any interviews to Indian media, for some time, post their marriage. The first time they gave a TV interview together, it was for Oprah! Deepika should definitely show a side of her at these interviews that even we have never seen before.
Don’t fall for word traps, but don’t shy away from talking important issues either
Tyra tried her best to churn out a good controversial quote from Aishwarya, like asking about her and Abhishek about being compared to Angelina and Brad Pitt. And also about how she feels when she is called the most beautiful woman in the world, or what she felt when Julia Roberts called her the same. But Aishwarya stuck to her ground and gave logical and intelligent answers. And then Tyra talked about a complexion of the skin being an issue for Indians and that is where Aish knew she has to speak her heart out. This one answer is all heart!
Or just any of these Cannes interviews to know how to be graceful no matter what!
Happy birthday Deepika! Keep rocking.
