Ian Somerhalder Desperate For New Career: No Good Acting Offers After The Vampire Diaries?

Ian Somerhalder’s fans are in for a big surprise. In fact, many believe that ‘The Vampire Diaries’ is desperate for a new career simply because he hasn’t been getting many acting offers these days. Ian himself has hinted that he’s hoping to jump on the directing bandwagon in the coming months.

Ian even opened up about directing the latest episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries.’ He told Access Hollywood, “It’s kind of baptism by fire. You have a very limited amount of time. I shot this episode in seven days. That’s all I had to shoot it, so with that, most people would probably think that’s a negative thing, but I always try and find what’s the most positive aspect of any situation and just go with that.”

Does this mean that Ian is looking to transition from acting to directing? Is he looking to make a major career move this year? That’s what fans want to know. Some are even saying that Ian’s acting days are over.

So far Ian has made no indication that he has plans to continue acting now that ‘The Vampire Diaries’ is almost done. He has no films lined up and no offers on the table. Ian only has one project in the pipeline called ‘Time Framed’ but sources indicate that the film might not even make it to the big screen.

What’s next for Ian Somerhalder? No one knows for sure. Even though he was tipped to play Christian Grey in the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ series, that didn’t happen. Even though he’s had small roles in ‘The Young Americans,’ CSI; Crime Scene Investigation,’ ‘Smallville,’ ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,’ and ‘Lost,’ he is yet to make a real breakthrough in Hollywood.

And because he’s played Damon Salvatore for so many years now, many critics believe Ian might have a hard time distancing himself from his ‘The Vampire Diaries’ role. And that’s why Ian is hoping to work on his back up plan, and that’s directing.

Do you think Ian Somerhalder is trying to transition from acting to directing? Will Hollywood give him a chance to prove his talent behind the camera?
