Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur’s kissing scenes in OK Jaanu left uncut by the CBFC

Looks like Pahlaj Nihalani’s CBFC is on course to shed their “sanskari image”.CBFC had received backlash in the past over the fact that they gave UA rating to Befikre even after it had naked Ranveer Singh flashing his butt and had numourous kissing scenes. And had given A rating to films like Aligarh which had no such scenes but only dealt with a mature subject. But now it had again left the upcoming Karan Johar’s OK Jaanu, uncut. Yes the film too reportedly consists numourus kissing scenes but is lucky enough to get past Pahlaj Nihalani’s scissor, unscathed. Is it because of the fact that the film is backed by Karan Johar who is one of the biggest filmmakers of India, just like makers of Befikre or this is Pahlaj Nihalani’s way of justifying Befikre‘s rating or CBFC really trying to mend their ways and act like certification board, which theu actually are, rather than censor board. But then Ae Dil Hai Mushkil too had Karan Johar at its helms and the kissing scene in the film was cut short blatantly for idiotic reasons.

Well that only Pahlaj Nihalani can tell, for now, Karan Johar and we the viewers should be happy for the film. Karan becasue he is the producer of the film and we because, we’ll get to watch the film the way makers wanted us to see. When he had received flak for his double standards while rating Befikre and was asked what can other films like OK Jaanu expect?, he had then said, “Let him(Karan Johar) come to CBFC with Ok Jaanu, ekdum befikre. We’ll do whatever is the right thing to do.” He had also talked about the scenes which were cut from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil saying, “Firstly, let me make it very clear that there was no kiss between Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to cut in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Yes, we did cut the kiss between Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma because we felt that the kiss was unduly prolonged. Secondly, when his film was in trouble over the presence of a Pakistani artiste, I was one of Karan’s most vocal supporters. Karan is the son of my old friend, the wonderful Yash Johar who was one of the most upright and kind souls in this film industry. Karan is like my own son.”

Truly Pahlaj Nihalani works in mysterious ways.
