The mass molestation incident that took place in Bengaluru on New Year’s eve has shocked the entire nation. People were left traumatised by this incident, but a remark by the Karnataka Home Minister – G Parameshwara added more fuel to the fire. Several others including Abu Azmi made controversial statements in this regard, but amidst all this chaos, Salman Khan‘s father Salim Khan has request for PM Narendra Modi. The veteran screenwriter does not care about what others have to say, he just wants the Prime Minister to address this issue immediately.
Expressing concern over the act by some of the youngsters in Bengaluru, Salim Khan tweeted, “Honourable PM Narendra bhai, you have time and again mentioned that India’s youth will drive the country forward. It’s a shame what the youth have done in Bengaluru. Such acts are happening repeatedly all over. We were also young once, but never have such things happened. Narendra bhai, the power of the youth is double-edged. It can go either way. You need to address it immediately.”
Apart from Salim sahab, Aamir Khan also expressed that such incidents are really shameful and they lower our heads in front of everyone else. At a press conference today, Aamir mentioned, “The Bengaluru incident is saddening. We are hurt and ashamed that such a thing happened in our nation. We and every state government have to take the right steps and this should be a continuous process. There is no single solution to this problem.”
Aamir also mentioned that such incidents can be curbed only by having stricter rules, as he added, “Law and order will become very strict and so will judiciary. In America, when such an incident happens within two or three months the culprit gets punished and the case is closed. When this will happen here, change will happen. In today’s times, those who molest women think that nothing will happen to them. When examples are set before them, that of culprits getting punished and being thrown behind bars, that is when the situation will change and criminals will feel scared. It is important to do that. Through my films and other things, I strive to increase sensitivity among women on such issues.”
