AMC has set premiere dates for three big spring dramas, including the third season of Emmy-nominated Better Call Saul, in addition to offering fans new trailers for the shows. And for Breaking Bad fans, the network made it official that a familiar face will finally be appearing on the show’s prequel.
Better Call Saul returns for season 3 on Monday, April 10 at 10/9c. Picking up right where season 2 left off, the new season will include the arrival of guest star Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring, the drug kingpin and chicken restaurant owner who employed Walter White on Breaking Bad. News of Esposito’s involvement first started when a new video was released featuring a commercial for his character’s fictional restaurant, Los Pollos Hermanos. Gus will likely cross paths with his future right-hand man, Mike, while Jimmy is busy dealing with the fact that his brother secretly recorded his confession.
Also on AMC’s spring schedule is the second season of Into the Badlands. The martial arts epic will kick off Sunday, March 19 at 10/9c, getting a nice boost from The Walking Dead as a lead-in. The second season finds the characters scattered across the dystopian world with Sunny trying to get back home to his family while M.K. tries to control his powers.
And AMC will debut a brand-new drama, The Son, on Saturday, April 8 at 9/8c. The series spans 150 years as it follows three generations of a prominent Texas family of oil tycoons. It stars Pierce Brosnan.
Finally, AMC revealed plans for two exciting new projects. Following the massive success of The Night Manager, the network will adapt another John le Carre novel, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, into a limited series. The network is also developing James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction, a six-part documentary series from the acclaimed filmmaker that will explore the evolution of science fiction as a genre in pop culture.
