Find out What Emily Deschanel’s Co-Stars Think of Her ‘Bones’ Directorial Debut

Emily Deschanel has been with Bones since the show’s conception in 2005 but she had her first chance to direct in the episode “The Final Chapter: The Hope in the Horror,” the season 12 premiere. Her directorial debut drew positive feedback from fans, but what about her co-stars?

In the video released by FOX, fans are given a behind-the-scenes look at Deschanel’s directing gig, and some of her co-stars also weigh in on Deschanel’s work.
“Emily directed the premiere of the season … She did yell ‘cut’ a few times when she meant ‘action’ and then ‘action’ a few times when she meant ‘cut.’ We appreciated that too,” co-star TJ Thyne said of Deschanel. “She was great. I hope she continues to direct outside of Bones.”
“The thing that struck me the most about working with Emily was just how nice it was to get to sit with her and have the time to talk with her as a director about what was going on with my character,” says John Boyd, who plays James Aubrey.
As for Deschanel, who only wished that she’d do a decent job, she commends co-star David Boreanaz, who has already directed several episodes of Bones.
“David has directed so I’ve watched him, how he deals with directing and acting at the same time,” she said.
How would you rate Deschanel’s directorial debut? Do you want her to direct again?
