There’s plenty of old and new faces to look forward to this TV season, including the introduction of a new princess on an ABC fantasy series, a new series regular on a CBS action drama and the return of Walter White’s nemesis. Read on to find out more.
Once Upon a Time Seeks Tiger Lily
According to TV Line, Tiger Lily is set to arrive on Once Upon a Time. Known as the princess of the Piccaninny tribe of Native Americans, the character (based on various adaptations) has a crush on Peter Pan and has been tormented by Captain Hook. On the ABC drama, Tiger Lily is described as “a force to be reckoned with” and is “the kind of woman who’ll risk her life to save yours — and she’ll do it even quicker if it benefits her.” The show is reportedly on the lookout for a Native American actress in her late 20s to early 30s to fill the role of Tiger Lily, who is expected to recur beginning episode 17.
Meredith Easton on MacGyver
Best known for her recurring role on the series Boston Legal, Meredith Easton has been cast on MacGyver as a series regular. She will play Matty Webber, the new director of operations at the Phoenix Foundation who is also known as a legend in Covert Ops, and is set to make her debut on the January 13 episode.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Meredith Eaton join the cast of MacGyver,” said executive producer and showrunner Peter Lenkov. “Matty Webber is a tough cookie and, despite her history with Jack, she’ll have no problem finding her place in the Phoenix team. She may even teach Mac a few new tricks.”
Better Call Saul Welcomes Gus
Gus Fring is returning to the small screen! AMC recently released a commercial for Los Pollos Hermanos, the fictional chain restaurant from Breaking Bad run by drug lord Gus Fring, whom Heisenberg met through Saul Goodman.
“At Los Pollos Hermanos, we know only the best will do for you and your family,” says the voiceover. “What does family taste like? In your heart, you know it’s the best ingredients, the spiciest spices, all prepared with love and care — and always delivered with a friendly smile. That’s the Los Pollos Hermanos promise.”
Gus smiles creepily towards the end as he raves about his restaurant’s new curly fries. “We are so sure you’ll like them,” he says. “And if you don’t, they’re on me!”
Giancarlo Esposito, who plays the legendary villain, took to social media to share the clip and announce the news of his arrival. “I’m back!! What you’ve been waiting for, the rise of Gus is coming! Check this out… #PollosHermanos,” he wrote.
Warning: The video will make you hungry!
If you’re a fan of Breaking Bad, the appearance of Gus on the third season of Better Call Saul is certainly something to look forward to though not at all unexpected. The prequel series has already featured familiar faces such as Tuco Salamanca, Hector “Tio” Salamanca, “the Cousins,” and Domingo “Krazy-8” Molina.
